Monster Hunter Rise has quickly become a hit on Nintendo Switch and in early 2022, the game will also be launching on PC. After the PC launch, Capcom will be focussing its efforts on the game's first major expansion, Sunbreak, which is set to roll out next year.
Last night's Nintendo Direct opened with a quick teaser trailer from none other than Capcom, announcing Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, a “massive expansion” to the base game, which launched on Nintendo Switch back in March of this year.
The teaser trailer gives just a brief glimpse at what's to come, with more details arriving on the 30th of September, during the Tokyo Game Show. This expansion is set to release in ‘Summer 2022', so it is still some ways off and we don't have confirmation on if the expansion will also come to PC next year. It is likely that the release is staggered, with Sunbreak coming to Switch first, with a PC release months later.
In the meantime, Capcom will continue with free updates and crossover events in Monster Hunter Rise. The latest is rolling out today, bringing Mega Man items to the game. Capcom also held a crossover event last month, which saw Okami inspired content added to the game.
KitGuru Says: In my opinion, Monster Hunter Rise is the best game to have released on Switch this year. Hopefully this expansion continues to elevate the game further.
