G.Skill announces Trident Z5 DDR5 memory with up to 6400MHz speeds

G.Skill was hugely successful with its high-speed memory kits over the DDR4 generation and the company is now locked and loaded for the launch of DDR5 in a few weeks time. Today, G.Skill is announcing the Trident Z5 series of DDR5 memory, promising high speeds, reliability and low latency.

The Trident Z5 series will be available in RGB and non-RGB form, so system builders have options. The top-end DDR5 kit offers 6400MHz speeds with CL36 timings, constructed using high-performance Samsung DDR5 memory ICs. Each DDR5 IC is implemented with twice the amount of banks and bank groups, as well as a doubled burst length.

The module layout is comprised of two 32-bit sub-channels, making DDR5 capable of delivering more data than DDR4. Strides have also been made in efficiency, with each DDR5 memory module using an on-board power management integrated circuit chip, paving the way for more reliable power delivery and better signal integrity at high frequencies.

G.Skill Trident series memory is widely known for its overclocking performance, in-fact, G.Skill memory has been used to break numerous speed records over the years. With the Trident Z5 DDR5 family, that tradition will continue, as best-in-class components are used to keep speeds high and latency in check. The baseline for DDR5 is 4800MHz speeds with CL40 timings, but as we can see, G.Skill has already been able to up the ante with 6400MHz speeds at CL36 in a 16GB x 2 kit.

The Trident Z5 DDR5 memory family is launching with speeds up to DDR5-6400, so there are also DDR5-5600 CL40 and CL36 options, as well as DDR5-6000 CL40 and CL36 options. Eventually, we'll also see even higher memory speeds being pushed as the technology matures. G.Skill will begin shipping Trident Z5 DDR5 memory worldwide starting in November 2021.
