Battlefield 2042 beta dates and PC system requirements announced

After months of leaks and a delay, DICE has confirmed that the beta for Battlefield 2042 will be taking place in October. Alongside the beta dates, the studio has also revealed the PC system requirements for the game.

A set of system requirements for Battlefield 2042 were shared by closed alpha testers for the game earlier this year. Some changes have been made along the way and now, DICE has revealed the official, finalised PC system requirements.

The minimum requirements call for an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 560 graphics card. The recommended system requirements push this up to an Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor, 16GB of RAM and an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT graphics card.

Interestingly, the system requirements also show that the game will require at least 100GB of HDD or SSD space, and an SSD is recommended – something that is becoming standard now that the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles use SSD storage.

The Battlefield 2042 beta begins on the 6th of October for EA Play members and pre-order customers. The beta will then open up to all players on the 8th of October, before ending on the 10th of October. The beta will give access to the fan-favourite Conquest game mode, featuring up to 128 players on PC, or 64 players on console.

Battlefield 2042 will be releasing on the 19th of November, although deluxe edition pre-order customers will get access a week earlier on the 12th of November.

KitGuru Says: All signs are pointing to Call of Duty being a let down this year, so DICE has an opportunity here to win out the holiday season shooter battle if the beta is received well. Will any of you be playing the Battlefield 2042 beta next month?
