For years now, 1440p gaming monitors have primarily been sold with up to 165Hz refresh rates. Now, monitor makers are starting to push well beyond that, with Acer’s latest gaming display boasting QHD resolution at 300Hz.
Featuring a 27-inch QHD Agile-Splendor IPS panel, the Acer Nitro XV272UKF gaming monitor comes with a 2560×1440 resolution and a 300Hz refresh rate while offering a 0.5ms G2G response time. As a VESA DisplayHDR 600-certified monitor, the new Acer display features a peak brightness of 600nits, but typical brightness is set at 350nits. The contrast ratio is rated at the typical 1000:1 for an IPS panel, allowing it to cover 90% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Out-of-the-box, the monitor comes colour calibrated to ensure a ΔE<1 rating.
Besides AMD FreeSync Premium for tear-free gaming sessions, the Nitro XV272UKF also features Black Boost technology to enhance darker scenes and ColorSense to automatically adjust the colour temperature based on the surrounding environment. Nonetheless, users may also adjust the colour themselves or choose a colour profile through the Acer Display Widget. The monitor is also TÜV/Eyesafe certified, in part thanks to Acer's Vision Care 3.0 technology to reduce eye strain.
Connectivity-wise, this monitor has a wide variety of options, including 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, 4x USB-A 3.0 ports, a USB-C port with DP alt. mode and 65W power delivery, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB-B upstream port to power the 4-port hub. The included Acer Ergostand allows users to tilt, swivel, pivot and adjust the monitor's height. If you plan to buy the upcoming Nitro XV272UKF, you may do so in November, when it releases for $1099.99/€1149 in the US and EMEA.
