Deathloop update finally fixes camera stutter and more

Deathloop is one of the biggest games of the year, being a PlayStation 5 console exclusive – while also coming to PC. The PC version in particular however suffered from some major issues, including noticeable camera stutter. Developer Arkane has now released a major patch, addressing this issue and much much more.

Making the announcement on their blog, Arkane said “DEATHLOOP’s first major game update is now available on PlayStation 5 and PC. Game Update 1 improves several aspects of the gameplay experience, camera smoothness and NPC behaviors. It also resolves several issues that could cause the game to crash.”

While the update comes with dozens of fixes, some of the most notable include:

  • Fixed issues that were causing dropped frames and hitches in camera movement
  • Added support for Nvidia DLSS
  • Added support for Sony DualSense controller audio
  • Improved performance and stability, especially with ray tracing
  • Improved NPC pathing and reactions to the player
  • Improved vibrations on DualSense controller

The most needed update was certainly that of the PC camera stutter, which made even the highest of framerates feel inconsistent and jittery. Of course the addition of DLSS is also a massive boon to the game, allowing much weaker rigs to run the game at higher frame rates while maintaining visual quality and perceived resolution.

Critical reception for Deathloop was highly positive, and it is therefore good to see the team making sure that on the technical front, the game is just as performant. The full patch notes can be found HERE.
