AMD Ryzen 7000 mobile “Raphael-H” CPUs to feature up to 16 cores

Currently, AMD's best CPU for laptops comes with 8 cores, but it looks like that will change with the Ryzen 7000 mobile generation. Codenamed “Raphael-H”, these Zen 4 chips are rumoured to double the core count for laptop processors, reaching as high as 16 cores.

The rumour originated from @NiceMing, claiming that a 16-core Zen 4 laptop processor was coming. This was then corroborated by @greymon55, who also stated that it would belong to the “Raphael-H” line-up (Ryzen 7000 mobile).

Rumours about Raphael-H featuring Zen 4 cores are not new, but core count rumours are. Previous reports also claim that alongside the Raphael-H series, there will also be “Phoenix-H” CPUs, which would be available for lower cost laptops.

Based on what we know so far, the Ryzen 7000 mobile series should support DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 and feature an RDNA 2 iGPU and Durango CCDs, which consists of Zen 4 cores based on the 5nm node and the 7nm-based client I/O die 3. The first Zen 4 processors are due to launch in late 2022, so we should see the first Zen 4 powered laptops in 2023.
