Intel Arc GPU giveaway might have confirmed pricing

Recently, Intel has been running the Xe HPG Scavenger Hunt, a competition event that will end with Intel giving away some of the first Arc Alchemist graphics cards. While Intel has yet to confirm pricing for its upcoming desktop graphics cards, the terms and conditions page for this giveaway has given us a big hint. 

As per the terms and conditions of Xe HPG Scavenger Hunt (via Tom's Hardware), the 100 top-scorers  in the competition will get the $900 bundle and the following 200 top-scorers the $700 bundle. The $900 bundle will include a “Premium” tier Intel Arc graphics card and a 6-month Game Pass subscription (MSRP $60), while the $700 bundle comes with a “Performance” tier Intel Arc graphics card and a 3-month Game Pass subscription (MSRP $30). Both bundles will include Intel merchandise, which will account for a small fraction of the bundle cost.

It is possible that the “Premium” Intel Arc GPU mentioned in the terms and conditions is the DG2-512EU GPU. This GPU is rumoured to come with 4,096 shading units and 16GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit memory bus and should rival the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and Nvidia RTX 3070 series. As for the “Performance” Intel Arc graphics card, we assume it's the DG2-384EU, expected to feature 3,072 shading units and 8-12GB of GDDR6 memory, rivalling the likes of Radeon RX 6600 series and Nvidia RTX 3060 series.

Doing simple math, the “Premium” tier Intel Arc graphics card should cost about $820, and the “Performance” tier Intel Arc graphics card should come at close to $650. These are rough estimations, but considering the MSRP's of the AMD and Nvidia cards that will rival these Intel GPUs, it is higher than expected. Intel is expected to formally unveil its Arc Alchemist GPUs in early 2022.
