Intel Core i7-12700H outperforms AMD Zen 3 laptop processors in Cinebench

More benchmark results for the unreleased Intel Core i7-12700H have popped up this week. This time around, we have results from Cinebench R20 and R23 and looking at the scores, Intel's new laptop processor is looking very promising.

The Cinebench results were obtained by Notebookcheck, and the processor appears to have been running on an unreleased MSI GE76 Raider laptop. Full specifications for the processor are unknown, but rumours claim that the Core i7-12700H will pack six P-cores and eight E-cores and operate at a 45W TDP.

Starting with the Cinebench R20 scores, the Core i7-12700H outperformed AMD's high-end Ryzen 9 5900HX by 21% with 689 points (versus 570 points from the Ryzen 9 chip). The performance difference increases to 47% when we move to the multi-core results, with the Intel processor scoring 7158 points against the 4859 points of the AMD chip.

The story repeats itself when comparing the Cinebench R23 multi-core score. Compared to the Ryzen 9 5900HX, the Intel CPU was once again 47% faster, with 18501 points versus 12570 points. Compared to the Apple M1 Max, Intel's processor scores 49% higher.

Intel 12th Gen Core mobile processors are expected to come out in early 2022.

KitGuru says: These results we've been seeing are most likely from pre-samples of Intel 12th Gen Core mobile chips, so there's a chance that we will see even higher scores once the real thing is available for testing.
