Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker pushed back to December

Shortly following on from recent press previews, Square Enix has announced a delay for Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker. The new expansion was initially due to release on the 23rd of November, but has since been pushed back by a couple of weeks.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker is now releasing on the 7th of December, with early access for pre-order customers beginning on the 3rd of December. Due to this delay, Patch 6.0.1 has also been pushed back from late December to early January.

The new release date was revealed alongside a new launch trailer for the Endwalker expansion, which will wrap up story arcs that began with A Realm Reborn back in 2014. Speaking on the delay, Final Fantasy 14 producer, Naoki Yoshida, apologised to fans, saying:

“I am incredibly sorry to share this so close to launch, but I have decided to postpone the release of Endwalker. There are several reasons for the postponement, but as I’m the one overseeing all aspects of the title as the head of the project, the responsibility falls solely on me. Allow me to convey my sincerest apologies to our players, our Warriors of Light around the world who have been looking so forward to the release of Endwalker. I am truly sorry.”

The biggest factor behind the delay was a desire to further improve on some aspects of the expansion, leading to additional work late in the development process.

KitGuru Says: Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker will now be going head-to-head against Halo Infinite in December with their release dates just one day apart. Have you been catching up on Final Fantasy 14 in time for the new expansion?
