The Game Awards are just a month away and the nominees have now been revealed. Potential GOTYs this year include the likes of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Deathloop, Metroid Dread and some more surprising nominees.
The nominees for each category are selected by a jury, but it is then up to the public to vote on winners in each category. This year, you'll find the usual categories like Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Indie and Best Ongoing Game, as well as a few esports-centric categories and forward-looking categories like Most Anticipated Game.
This year's Game of the Year nominees include:
- Deathloop
- It Takes Two
- Metroid Dread
- Psychonauts 2
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Resident Evil Village
Best Game Direction nominees are largely the same, but Resident Evil Village and Metroid Dread are both removed, and Returnal is nominated in their place. This year's Best Indies nominees are a particularly strong bunch, including the likes of Loop Hero, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Inscryption, Death's Door and 12 Minutes.
The final category we'll list here is Best Ongoing Game, with potential winners being Apex Legends, Final Fantasy XIV Online, Fortnite, Genshin Impact and Call of Duty: Warzone.
Public voting for The Game Awards is live now and will end in a few weeks time. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.
