When Sony first showed off the PlayStation 5 at the company’s ‘Future of Gaming’ showcase, one of the most interesting games announced was Capcom’s PRAGMAMA: “a brand-new sci-fi action adventure game” which “will present players with a profound story and setting, as cutting edge visuals take full advantage of next-generation platform features”. Originally announced to be releasing in 2022, the game has now been pushed back a year to 2023.
Making the announcement, Capcom said “Our team is hard at work on the project, but to ensure this will be an unforgettable adventure, we've decided to shift the release window to 2023. In the meantime, we have a brand new artwork to share with you. Thank you for your patience.”
Alongside this, the publisher released a new teaser trailer, showcasing one of the game’s main characters rendered in 4k and 60fps holding up a sign which reads: “2022 -> 2023 Sorry :(”
When PRAGMATA was first announced in June 2020 it arrived with a release year of 2022, with neither a month nor season announced. Furthermore, with no gameplay having been shown yet, it is clear that the game needs much more time in the oven.
Delays are almost never a bad thing, and in most cases lead to the creation of a much better and more stable game. Even so, it is disappointing to see the title pushed out so far away as the concept itself looks to be rather intriguing. Hopefully PRAGMATA will be worth the wait.
