Over 2 million players paid for early access to EA’s College Football 25

One of the more recent trends in the video games industry has been for publishers to release additional editions of its games which come with a couple days of early access – for a hefty price. Despite being cost-ineffective, the practice has unfortunately proven to be highly successful.

As reported by IGN, the recent release of EA’s College Football 25 has been met with a strong response from fans, with the game’s $100 early access tier seeing more than 2.2 million players convinced by its value.

While the Deluxe Edition does technically come with more than just 3 days of early access for the added cost, the only other inclusion with this edition is a set of 4600 College Football Points.

Regardless, the ever increasing number of games which are charging high prices for a couple days of early access are unlikely to be going away any time soon – as EA’s College Football 25 has proven.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this tactic? Have you paid extra for early access to games in this way? Will it become a standard industry practice? Let us know down below.
