One of the more recent trends in the video games industry has been for publishers to release additional editions of its games which come with a couple days of early access – for a hefty price. Despite being cost-ineffective, the practice has unfortunately proven to be highly successful.
As reported by IGN, the recent release of EA’s College Football 25 has been met with a strong response from fans, with the game’s $100 early access tier seeing more than 2.2 million players convinced by its value.
While the Deluxe Edition does technically come with more than just 3 days of early access for the added cost, the only other inclusion with this edition is a set of 4600 College Football Points.
Regardless, the ever increasing number of games which are charging high prices for a couple days of early access are unlikely to be going away any time soon – as EA’s College Football 25 has proven.
