Microsoft confirms Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for Game Pass

Following on from numerous leaks, Microsoft has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will finally be added to the Game Pass library this week.

After what I view to be a pretty low-ranking month for Game Pass, Microsoft is upping the ante a little bit during the final week of July by bringing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to Game Pass. The game will be made available to Game Pass for Console, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers this Thursday, the 24th of July.

This marks the first time that a Call of Duty game has been made available via a subscription service like Game Pass. From now on, the game will continue to be available in the library, granting millions of players with access to the game's excellent multiplayer modes. Unfortunately, this particular entry in the COD franchise doesn't offer much for single-player fans, as MW3 has perhaps the weakest campaign in COD history.

In October, we'll see another COD game arriving on Game Pass, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 set to join the library on day-one. However, due to recently announced changes to Game Pass tiers, only Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers will get day-one access. If you have the standard tier of Game Pass, you don't get access to day-one games, a change that is expected to net Microsoft billions in extra subscription fees.

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
