First-person dinosaur shooter Second Extinction is free on the Epic Games Store

As we reach the holiday season, Epic Games is once again offering a new free game on its storefront every single day until the end of the year. Right now, those with an Epic Games Store account can get their hands on the first-person co-op multiplayer dinosaur shooter Second Extinction.

Available from now until 4pm, the early access release of Second Extinction is being given away for free to all those with an Epic Games Store account. Once redeemed, the game will remain in your library forever.

Second Extinction is described as “A NEW BREED OF BIG MAP MULTIPLAYER SHOOTER” where your goal is to “Reclaim Earth”. In Second Extinction, players will be squading up in groups of three to take on the hoards of Dinosaurs roaming the lands.

Despite being in Early Access currently, the game has plenty to sink your teeth into, with “6 heroes, 12 weapons (with 5 upgrade tiers each) and 6 missions – plus some special side quests – across multiple regions of our big map.”

While first-person shooters are a dime a dozen, most games in the genre will have you taking on humanoid creatures. It is therefore exciting to see a game offering a slightly different experience – changing the way you approach enemies.

Being a co-op focused title, it is nice to see the game being given away for free on the Epic Games Store, as you and your friends can now play the game with no costs. Reviews of the Early Access game have been slightly mixed, however as the game nears completion, hopefully the complaints – such as performance issues and unbalanced weapons – are fixed.

Second Extinction is available right now for free on the Epic Games Store until 4pm, at which point it will be replaced by an as-of-yet-unknown game.
