Microsoft debuts Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II gameplay

Two years ago, Microsoft took to the stage at The Game Awards to announce the Xbox Series X and its first major next-gen exclusive project, Hellblade 2. Now during The Game Awards 2021, Microsoft has returned to the show, armed with the first gameplay footage for Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2.

The gameplay showcase is around six minutes long and shows off Ninja Theory's excellent blend of cinematic moments, intertwined with gameplay, with no discernible cuts between the two.

The gameplay footage looks fantastic, with polished, realistic graphics. The scene appears to take place some ways into the game, with Senua leading a small troop of fighters against an attack from a Giant. Soon enough, Senua comes to recognise the giant and perhaps knew them previously – a moment that will give anime fans some serious Attack on Titan vibes.

Another theme throughout the footage is Senua's internal dialogue, as the multiple voices in her head have not disappeared since the events of the first game.

Unfortunately, we do not have a release date for Hellblade II at this time, but the game is looking promising. Rumours put this as a 2023 release for Microsoft, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

KitGuru Says: From the looks of it, Hellblade 2 is going to be quite different to the original game and have a much, much bigger scope. What did you all think of this early gameplay look?
