We all knew that Alan Wake would be returning someday, particularly after Control's second expansion came out, it was really more a question of when we would see a sequel announced. That day has finally come, with Alan Wake 2 being revealed at The Game Awards.
Remedy's next major project is Alan Wake 2, planned to release on Xbox Series X/S, PC (via Epic Games Store) and PS5 in 2023:
The trailer gives us brief snippets at the original game's New York City and Pacific Northwest settings, hinting that we may return to re-tread old ground. This time around, Remedy will be taking a survival horror approach, dubbing this as the studio's ‘first ever survival horror game', moving away from the action focus of previous titles from the company.
Alan Wake originally released back in 2010 and despite garnering cult-classic status, Remedy took a long break from the series. That changed in 2019, when Control's second expansion released, including a cameo from the character and indicating that both Control and Alan Wake take place in the same shared universe. Back in October, Alan Wake re-released in remastered form across PC and consoles.
KitGuru Says: This is just a small teaser, but with Alan Wake 2 scheduled for 2023, we should see and hear much more about this game over the next year.
