Last year, South Park Studios confirmed that it was working on another new video game, but did not confirm which studio would be developing the game, seemingly indicating that its partnership with Ubisoft has come to an end. Now, we seem to know which studio is working on the new game.
As spotted by Eurogamer, Question Games, a studio based in California, has begun hiring for “a new video game set in the world of South Park”. The application also seems to confirm that the game will be built using Unreal Engine and may include multiplayer elements.
Question Games is looking for applicants with “previous multiplayer level design work” as well as “familiarity with console development on modern systems”.
Question Games is not a household name like Ubisoft, with previous titles including The Magic Circle and The Blackout Club. The studio was founded by developers from well-known franchises though, including those who worked on games like BioShock and Dishonored.
There have been two South Park games in the modern console era, including The Stick of Truth, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, and a direct sequel, The Fractured but Whole, developed and published by Ubisoft.
KitGuru Says: The previous two South Park games were thoroughly enjoyable, but it seems this third game will be going in a different direction, targeting multiplayer, rather than being a single-player turn-based RPG. Still, the game has yet to be revealed, so there is still plenty we don't know about this upcoming game.
