Three of the best Assassin’s Creed games are coming to Switch

While the Nintendo Switch is an excellent handheld-console hybrid in its own right, releasing alongside dedicated home systems has made for a wide disparity in fidelity. Fortunately, many developers have compensated for this through the re-release of older games onto the Switch. Soon, Switch owners will be able to play the Ezio Trilogy on their portable systems.

Making the announcement, Publisher Ubisoft revealed that “The Ezio Collection will be available for Nintendo Switch on February 17, 2022,” saying: “Experience this classic award-winning Assassin’s Creed franchise anywhere and anytime! Players will have the opportunity to become Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the most celebrated and iconic Master Assassin in the franchise. Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection invites all fans of the franchise to discover or rediscover two major opuses from the Assassin’s Creed series fully playable offline and on-the-go with Nintendo Switch.”

Few details were offered regarding performance, though it has been confirmed to be getting a “handheld mode, HD Rumble, touchscreen interface, and an optimized HUD for the Switch”. Aside from this however, it is safe to assume that the collection will sit somewhere between the PS3/Xbox360 originals and the remastered collection for PS4 and Xbox One, which was released back in 2016.

Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection combines 3 of Assassin’s Creed’s most well known and respected games, namely Assassin’s Creed 2; Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. The 2016 release included improved graphics, lighting, effects and textures. It will be interesting to see how many of these additions are brought over to the Switch release. Luckily, we don't have to wait too long to find out.
