The team at GSC Game World has been through a lot over the past couple of years. While their new game, Stalker 2, was due to release in 2022, Russia's invasion of Ukraine forced the studio to move. Then, the studio became the target of cyberattacks, leading to more delays. Fortunately, GSC Game World has pulled through, and Stalker 2 is in the final stages of development ahead of launch.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, is finally going to release on the 20th of November. This is another two month delay, as the game had previously been listed as launching in August 2024. Still, it is a small delay compared to previous instances. At this point, it seems that the game is locked in for a 2024 release.
While the game won't be coming out as planned in August, GSC Game World still has something planned to tide fans over. Next month, there will be a new gameplay deep dive, hosted on the Xbox YouTube channel, where we'll get a closer look at the game in action.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be launching on Xbox Series X/S and PC, via Steam, GOG, Epic Games and GSC Game World's own website if you'd like to support the studio directly. The game will also be available to Game Pass subscribers on day-one, although the situation is muddied by recent changes to Game Pass tiers. Moving forward, Microsoft is retiring the Game Pass for Console subscription tier, replacing it with Game Pass Standard, which will not offer day-one games. However, those subscribed to PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate, will continue to get day-one access to brand new releases.
