Fractal Design launches new Torrent Compact and Nano cases

After the success of the original Fractal Design Torrent, it's time for the company to launch new variations of the case. This week, Fractal Design is launching the Torrent Compact and the Torrent Nano.

Following the trend of other Fractal Design cases, the new Torrent cases were designed so users can conveniently mount anything inside of them. The side panels use bolt-free top-latching mechanisms, allowing users to pull them easily. You can even remove the top bezel to manage the cabling better, which can be organised using the built-in velcro ties. Inside these cases, users can find a vibration-damped drive tray for a 3.5-inch drive or 2x 2.5-inch drives. The front I/O panels have a USB-C 3.1 Gen2 port, 2x USB 3.0 ports and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Like the original Torrent, the Fractal Design Torrent Compact comes with 2x 180x38mm Fractal Design Dynamic fans (Prisma ARGB fans for RGB versions of the case) on the front panel. The ARGB lighting of the fans and the RGB LED strip on the PSU shroud can be configured on any motherboard supporting ARGB. To connect the fans, Fractal Design included the new Nexus 9P Slim PWM fan hub.

Users can mount E-ATX (up to 274mm) or smaller motherboards and three extra 2.5-inch drives inside the Torrent Compact. Moreover, the case can fit 210mm long PSUs, 330mm long GPUs (with the front fan mounted) and 174mm tall CPU coolers. Both the front panel and the bottom of the case support 2x 180/140mm fans or 3x 120mm fans. The front panel supports up to 360mm radiators for liquid cooling, while the bottom of the case can fit up to a 280mm radiator. As you would expect, the rear vent is limited to a 120mm fan or fan + radiator.

The Torrent Nano packs a single 180x38mm Fractal Design Dynamic fan (Prisma ARGB fan for RGB version cases) and doesn't include a fan hub. Still, the ARGB lighting of the fan and the LED strip can be configured on supporting motherboards, just like the other Torrent cases.

Measuring in at 417 x 222 x 374mm, the Torrent Nano supports mITX and mDTX motherboards. However, you can mount ATX PSUs up to 200mm long, 335mm long GPUs, 165mm tall air-cooled heatsinks and 2x 2.5-inch drives. On the front, users are limited to a single 180mm fan or 2x 120/140mm fans and 240/140mm radiators. Users can fit a couple of 120/140mm fans or a 240/280mm radiator on the bottom.

The Torrent Compact and Nano cases come in several variants – non-RGB, RGB, windowed and windowless. Compact models start at £113.99, up to £139.99. As for the Nano cases, they begin at £96.99, but the RGB can set you back £113.99.
