Rainbow Six Extraction has had an interesting development, including but not limited to the fact that publisher Ubisoft changed the name from R6: Quarantine following COVID-19 and its consequences. All’s well that launches well, and it seems Rainbow Six Extraction has managed that, surpassing three million players in its first week.
Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Rainbow Six Extraction account said “Rainbow Six Extraction has surpassed three million players within its first week! A sincere thank you to our millions of players, and it's just the beginning – starting tomorrow, our Buddy Pass is live. Invite two of your friends from any platform to play with you for free!”
This is an exciting number for the developers to tout, though it is worth noting that Rainbow Six Extraction is available for free on Xbox Game Pass – a service with 25 million subscribers. Still, this is undoubtedly exciting for the developers, and is hopefully a good sign for the game’s long-term support.
While Rainbow Six Extraction has received somewhat of a mixed reception, many of those 3 million players agree that it is a fun game. Offering a buddy pass is a smart move on Ubisoft’s part, as not only does it bring more attention to this co-op game – allowing interested parties to convince their friends to play – but it also means that soon Ubisoft will be able to announce that the game has managed 6 million players. Hopefully Rainbow Six Extraction continues to improve just as Siege did.
