With the launch of Intel Alder Lake, PCIe 5.0 connectivity has been made available to consumers, but we have yet to see any PCIe 5.0 SSDs. That’s beginning to change, with Teamgroup announcing their first PCIe 5.0 NVMe 2.0 SSD, which will launch later this year.
The new PCIe 5.0 SSDs from Teamgroup will be launched under the T-Force Cardea series of SSDs, meaning they will be aimed at gamers that want the best gear for their systems. Storage capacity will vary, but the maximum will be 4TB. Teamgroup promises read speeds of over 13,000MB/s and write speeds exceeding 12,000MB/s, using almost all of PCIe 5.0 x4 bandwidth. In addition, it will support the new NVMe 2.0 specification and use proprietary technology to offer enhanced durability.
As per the photo, the SSD will be available with Cardea graphene cooling solution, as well as Cardea aluminium heatsink. Moreover, it will come in an M.2 2280 form factor, so you should be able to easily mount it on any modern motherboard.
Expected to release in Q3 2022, the pricing for these new SSDs is still unknown. However, it certainly won't come cheap, as it will be the first PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD.
