EVGA launches new enthusiast-grade Z690 motherboard for Alder Lake processors

Following on from the Z690 Classified, EVGA is now announcing a new flagship Z690 board. Like its enthusiast-grade graphics cards, the new Z690 board from EVGA will be named after K|NGP|N, one of the best overclockers worldwide.

The new EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N, is all that the Z690 Classified is, and then some. Featuring a 21-phase VRM and a 10-layer PCB, you'll be able to overclock any 12th Gen Intel processor as high as possible. The motherboard's layout is slightly different than you may expect, as the socket is rotated 90º to the left, positioning the 2x DIMM slots to the top of the board. These support up to 64GB of DDR5 memory at up to 6600MHz+(OC).

EVGA's latest motherboard has 2x metal-reinforced PCIe 5.0 x16 slots to prevent the weight of the cards from breaking the physical interfaces. Moreover, there are 3x 110mm M.2 Gen4 slots between the two PCIe x16 interfaces, a U.2 port, a BIOS selection switch and a USB BIOS update port.

As a flagship motherboard, it features multiple pump, ARGB and RGB headers, as well as a slow mode and a PCIe disable switch. Contrary to most motherboards, the Z690 Dark K|NGP|N uses angled power connectors (24-pin + 2x 8-pin) on the right side of the board. In addition, you can find a multi-function POST indicator in the top right corner and an extra PCIe 6-pin power entry in the bottom left corner.

Besides the multiple SATA 6Gbps ports, USB internal connectors and ports and the Realtek ALC1220 audio codec, this motherboard packs two 2.5G LAN interfaces and a built-in Intel dual-band WiFi 6E/BT5.2 module with an external antenna. The EVGA Z690 Dark K|NGP|N is now available for $829.99.
