Elden Ring reviews officially went live yesterday and so far, it is looking like From Software has created a masterpiece. Currently, Elden Ring sits as the second highest rated game of all time on Open Critic, and is also tied for a top ten position on Metacritic.
From Software has been working on Elden Ring for a few years now, promising more Soulslike action in a larger, open world setting. In addition, the studio also tapped Game of Thrones author, George R.R. Martin, to help with writing.
There are almost 100 reviews of Elden Ring live right now from press outlets. On OpenCritic right now, the game has an average score of 96, putting it just below Super Mario Odyssey for the highest rated game on the platform. Metacritic tells a similar story, although the game's 97 average score there ties it for 6th place in the top ten of all time, in-fact, due to Metacritic's longer history, places 6 to 24 on the highest rated list all have an average overall score of 97.
At this point, there are so many reviews of Elden Ring that the average overall score is unlikely to shift further. This time next week, it will be interesting to go back and check the average user ratings as well, once players have had a chance to get their hands on the game and spend some time with it.
