Intel “Lunar Lake” Core Ultra 7 268V single-core performance looks to be on par with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370

Intel's highly anticipated Core Ultra 268V (Lunar Lake) CPU has been tested in third-party benchmarks by a YouTuber, comparing it against AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Z1 Extreme, and the Apple M3. The benchmarks chosen by the content creator were Cinebench R23 (single- and multi-core) and 3DMark Time Spy.

In the multi-core performance test scores shared by ThinkView (via Tom's Hardware), the 268V fell short compared to its AMD counterparts regarding CPU performance across all power settings. At 15W, 20W, 28W, and 38W, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 outperformed the 268V by around 55%, 65%, 60%, and 55% respectively. Similarly, the Z1 Extreme showcased a performance lead of 15%, 45%, 35%, and 45% at the same power settings. However, it's important to note that these results aren't 100% accurate, as the benchmark results were taken from a graph with an unclear legend.

On the single-threaded CB R23 test, the results were clearer. Here, the 268V fared better with 2,054 points, outscoring the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 by 5 points and surpassing Apple's M3 silicon by 10% (1,932). Regarding performance per watt, the 268V demonstrated 40% better efficiency than the HX 370 but couldn't match the efficiency of Apple's M3, which outperformed the Lunar Lake chip by more than twice.

In the 3DMark TimeSpy graphics test, the Core Ultra 7 268V (3,715) outperformed its AMD rivals, scoring 5% higher than the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (3,526) and 23% faster than the Z1 Extreme (3,017). Intel Lunar Lake has launched recently, and the first models have already arrived at retailers.
