Hackers are now demanding Nvidia makes its graphics drivers open source

The group behind the recent cyberattack on Nvidia is now demanding that the company makes its graphics drivers open source. The group has already leaked some files, including DLSS code, and they have threatened to leak more sensitive data if Nvidia doesn't respond.

The new requirements were presented via the hacking group's Telegram (via VideoCardz). In summary, the hackers want Nvidia to release its graphics drivers for Windows, macOS and Linux as open-source software and firmware.

If Nvidia doesn't concede to the demands by Friday, the hackers will release “the complete silicon, graphics and computer chipset files for all recent Nvidia GPUs”. This includes the upcoming RTX 3090 Ti card and any future GPU revisions.

So far, Nvidia has not been in direct contact with the attacker(s) and has not complied with previous demands. The company has publicly stated that it is investigating a security incident, but does not expect the attack to hold up its business operations.

KitGuru says: Do you think Nvidia will release its GPU drivers under an open-source license to avoid further leaks?
