STALKER 2 development on pause amid Ukrainian crisis

Ukraine is currently being invaded by Vladamir Putin, affecting all manner of people and industries, both in and outside of the country. STALKER 2, currently under development by Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, has now been put on hold as the developers focus on keeping themselves and their families safe.

In a short but haunting video released to their official YouTube page (alongside a description which reads: «Gameplay when?» is no longer the most common question. Now we hear «Are you guys okay?» more and more), GSC Game World aired clips of the current ongoing bombardment against Ukraine by Vladamir Putin.

Just some of the captions accompanying the video say “This video is our answer to ‘How are you guys?’ question. Now we are striving to help our employees and their families to survive.”

Of course, understandably, GSC Game World announced that “the game development [has been] shifted to the sidelines,” and concluded by saying “but we will definitely continue. After the victory. Glory to Ukraine.”

STALKER 2 was originally originally intended to release on the 8th of December 2022.

KitGuru says:  There is no denying that what is happening to the citizens of Ukraine is horrible. No video game is worth people’s lives, and so hopefully the team at GSC Game World (and the rest of the Ukrainian people) are safe.
