Resident Evil 7, RE 2 and RE 3 Remake getting upgraded for Xbox Series X/S and PS5

Resident Evil had a true resurgence over the last console generation, with Capcom delivering Resident Evil 7, and remakes for Resident Evil 2 and 3, all of which were well received by fans. Soon, all three titles will be getting graphical updates to take better advantage of the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles.

Today, Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake will get native versions for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles. The upgrade will be free for anyone who already owns these games on Xbox One or PS4. On the Xbox side, the games will use Xbox Smart Delivery, making the upgrade process very seamless. On PS5, you will have to seek out the PS5-specific versions of each game and download them individually of the PS4 version.

The next-gen update will include new visual enhancements, so expect higher resolutions and for graphical settings close to the PC version's maximum settings. Hopefully, Capcom will also include a 60FPS mode, but specific details have yet to be revealed. The most recent Resident Evil game, RE Village, is already optimised for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles.

Currently, Capcom is aiming to ship these new versions of the games before the end of this year, so expect more details in the coming months.

KitGuru Says: There are still a lot of details missing here, but hopefully we can both improved graphics and frame rates from these new versions.
