Bethesda has a secret game in the works – SpyTeam

We've known for a while now that Bethesda has greenlit a few unannounced games after being acquired by Microsoft. One of those titles, Redfall, was unveiled at E3 last year and now, we know about another upcoming project – SpyTeam.

A new trademark application for a game called SpyTeam was filed by Zenimax Media in early 2022, as spotted by Xbox-focused YouTuber, Skullzi. For those who don't know, Zenimax is the parent company of Bethesda, which is now owned by Microsoft. The trademark filing was made in late January, but this same trademark had also been previously filed back in 2018.

Given that the trademark has been refiled this year, we could be months away from an official reveal, as Microsoft and its studios begin to get their ducks in a row for game announcement events throughout the year.

We know little about the game itself at this point, but the project is being handled by Bethesda's Austin-based studio. That studio has been in flux for a few years, after having its multiplayer title, Battle Cry, cancelled in 2018. After that, the studio shifted to take over development on Fallout 76. Various job listings since then point towards the studio hiring for a team to produce another game, which is now thought to be SpyTeam.

Whether or not this will be a major console and PC release like Redfall, or a smaller title aimed at mobile devices, still remains to be seen. Like other major publishers, Bethesda was trying to tap into the mobile gaming market prior to being acquired by Microsoft, so plans may have changed since then.
