While a majority of video game console manufacturers host large blowout events featuring some of their biggest IPs and upcoming games while also highlighting indies, Nintendo and Microsoft have dedicated showcases to shed light on some lesser-known upcoming games. Microsoft is set to host its third ID@Xbox showcase, which will go live next week.
Making the announcement on their blog, Microsoft revealed that they are once again hosting an indie games showcase, saying “ID@Xbox and /twitchgaming will be coming together once again to showcase updates and new announcements of amazing games coming to Xbox from independent developers. Catch the show on Wednesday, March 16 at [6 PM UK Time].”
Offering a tease for what fans can expect, Microsoft revealed that “We’ll be featuring updates, new trailers, and gameplay from Finji and Whitethorn, as well as the first game from iam8bit’s brand new publishing label. In addition to all this, fans will also get a chance to see the latest and hear from teams working on Shredders, Roblox, and some new games that you need to tune in for to see!”
Indie games are in many ways the lifeblood of the industry and are home to some of the most innovative and creative ideas in the industry. While an indie showcase will never attract as big a crowd as an E3 press conference, this upcoming ID@Xbox showcase deserves to be watched.
