For months now, we've heard rumours that Square Enix is looking to revive some of its classic JRPG series as part of an on-going partnership with PlayStation. Last night during a State of Play stream, a new Square Enix RPG was announced – Valkyrie Elysium, which is set to be a PlayStation console exclusive.
Valkyrie Elysium is a sequel to the Valkyrie Profile games, which first began on the PS1 all the way back in 1999. The new game will be releasing in 2022 for PS4 and PS5 consoles, as well as PC.
Throughout the game, you'll be playing as a Valkyrie tasked with saving the world from an apocalyptic event. The game is action-focused, so expect fast-paced combat with a variety of weapons, as well as finishing moves and combos, some of which will return from earlier games in the series.
The game itself is being developed by Soleil Ltd, with Square Enix publishing. There is no confirmation on whether or not this is a timed exclusive, so we don't know if it will ever come to other consoles, like Xbox or the Nintendo Switch.

KitGuru Says: This seemed to be the big announcement for State of Play last night, with the trailer for the game closing out the show. What do you all think of Valkyrie Elysium? The trailer and logo kind of made this seem like a less interesting Final Fantasy spin-off.
