Bethesda reveals Starfield’s first companion – Vasco

We're still a couple of months away from Bethesda's full Starfield gameplay reveal. In the meantime, the studio is releasing small developer diaries, with snippets of gameplay and lore details sprinkled in. This week's video introduces us to the first announced companion in the game – Vasco.

Vasco is a robot companion that can join you on your adventure across the planets present in Starfield. In the video, Vasco is revealed to be “an early model built by Lunar Robotics”, and the robot has been “refurbished to meet the requirements of Constellation's mission”.

Vasco is outfitted with survival gear and is capable of traversing rough terrain, making it ideal for long overland journeys. However, Vasco is not much of a bodyguard, with Bethesda describing its primary role as “peaceful”, although Vasco does have some defensive capabilities, so if things kick off, you'll have some back up.

In a previous developer diary posted a few weeks ago, Bethesda also discussed character creation, factions and a renewed focus on RPG mechanics. Starfield is currently on track to release on the 11th of November. The game should have an in-depth unveiling in June.
