Remedy is remaking Max Payne and Max Payne 2

If you've been waiting for a remake of the first two Max Payne games, we have some good news. Remedy and Rockstar Games have come to a development agreement to remake the original Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne for Xbox Series X|S, Playstation 5, and PC.

The first Max Payne was a game that defined the action genre 20 years ago, featuring a unique neo-noir atmosphere, fantastic storytelling and a Matrix-like “bullet-time” mechanic that ended up in multiple new games afterwards. Little did we know Remedy would launch a sequel just two years later, and it ended up being just as great.

Remedy, the developer of Max Payne and Max Payne 2, now wants to remake these two games. However, as Take-Two (Rockstar Games' parent company) is the current owner of the IP, they needed permission. Fortunately, the two companies have come to an agreement, and Remedy will be remaking the first two Max Payne games using its own Northlight engine.

It's still unclear when we will have the chance to play these remakes, but they're planned to release for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
