Xbox Game Streaming now works on the Steam Deck

While there are some Xbox games on Steam that aren't supported on the Steam Deck, Microsoft is looking to support the system in other ways. You can't download and install Halo Infinite due to anti-cheat incompatibilities, but you can stream Halo Infinite at 60FPS  on the Deck thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

This week, Microsoft revealed that it has released a new beta version of Microsoft Edge for Linux, which will allow Steam Deck users to stream cloud-supported titles on Xbox Game Pass. Unfortunately, the install process for this version of Edge is not particularly user-friendly, but hopefully this is something that can be improved later down the line.

Besides the installation process, the support article also teaches you to switch the controller layout to match the Deck gamepad, although the button layout is already very similar to an Xbox controller.

Given Microsoft's desire to get Xbox Game Pass on as many devices as possible, support for the Deck isn't too surprising. We are also likely to see xCloud coming to more devices this year, including Smart TVs and there is also talk of Microsoft releasing a dedicated streaming stick for Xbox Cloud Gaming.
