If you haven't been living under a rock, you should know that the graphics cards market has been in complete chaos for the past 15 months. However, new reports suggest we will see a return to normalcy in May, according to a UK retailer representative.
In the latest graphics cards pricing update from 3DCenter, we see that both Nvidia and AMD cards are, on average, being sold for 25% more than their MSRP in Germany and Austria. Compared to the pricing from three weeks ago, that's a pretty good drop. Still, this is the average, so expect to see some cards, like the AMD Radeon RX 6800 series, available with a 50% premium over MSRP.
While the RX 6800 series cards are still maintaining high prices, the RX 6500 XT has dropped to MSRP levels. Soon, the RTX 3080 Ti may also hit MSRP pricing – currently the GPU sells for 7% over MSRP on average in Europe. Other cards, like the RX 6600 and the RTX 3090 are still selling for up to 20% over MSRP, but we have good reason to believe that prices drops will continue over Q2.
According to Tyle Davies, a Box.co.uk representative, UK retail prices are also dropping and should continue to do so. In a statement to TechRadar, Davies said GPU pricing will likely become more “attractive” in late April/early May.
Across the pond, Asus also announced it would reduce GPU prices by up to 25% “throughout the springtime” following cuts to the tariffs on US imports from China. According to Tom's Hardware, the price reduction will take effect starting April 1st. Besides Asus, no other AIB partner announced it would reduce prices, but others should follow considering the nature of the price reduction.

KitGuru says: GPU prices are getting closer to their MSRP, but everything can change from one day to the other. Do you think those looking for a new GPU should try to grab one while they still can or keep waiting for prices to come down?
