The Radeon RX 6400 GPU is no longer OEM exclusive

The RX 6400 has been exclusive to OEMs for a while now, but there have been persistent rumours that we would see the GPU launching for the DIY market eventually. Now, that day has finally come, although launch pricing is far from ideal.

The AMD Radeon RX 6400 debuted for OEMs in January 2022, but now it is also available to the DIY PC building market. Based on the RDNA 2 architecture, the new card uses a Navi 24 GPU with 16MB of Infinity Cache and 768 stream processors clocked at 1,923MHz, boosting up to 2,321Mhz as needed. For VRAM, there's 4GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 14Gbps on a 64-bit bus. With a TDP of just 53W, there's no need to use any power connector, as the power provided by the PCIe interface is enough.

AMD compared its new entry-level card with the GTX 1050 Ti and the GTX 1650, claiming the Radeon GPU outperforms both. Some Chinese reviewers (ExpReview, PCOnline and Zol) had the chance to put the card through its paces and corroborated AMD's claims.

These reviews show the Radeon RX 6400 beating the GTX 1650 and the GTX 1050 Ti but falls behind the GTX 1650 Super. As for actual games, the Radeon RX 6400 outperformed the GTX 1650 in most cases and smashed the GTX 1050 Ti (about 50% faster).

The new AMD Radeon RX 6400 graphics card is already available at various retailers worldwide, with prices around the £200/€200 mark, which isn't great, as the RX 6500XT can be had for a similar price, or even less.
