If you were looking for a compact dual-tower CPU cooler, Noctua might have the perfect solution. The NH-D12L, Noctua's new 145mm tall cooler, was designed to offer the same performance as other 120mm coolers while improving case compatibility.
The Noctua NH-D12L will feature the new NF-A12x25r round-frame 120mm fan, making it compatible with many 4U enclosures and other PC cases previously limited to 92mm solutions. Still, Noctua promises its new cooler will outperform many full-height 120mm models.
Thanks to the asymmetric design of the 5-heatpipe heatsink, the NH-D12L should not interfere with the memory sticks, even if they have tall heat spreaders. Moreover, it comes bundled with some NT-H1 thermal compound and an extra pair of fan clips for another fan. Backed by a 6-year warranty, the NH-D12L is compatible with Intel LGA1700/1200/115x and AMD AM4/AM5 sockets.
As for Noctua's new NF-A12x25r 120mm fan, it shares a lot with the original NF-A12x25. It features the same blade count and design and even the same RPM range, but it can be mounted on low-height dual-tower CPU coolers thanks to its round-frame design. It's worth noting that unlike standard 120mm fans, which use a 105x105mm hole spacing, the NF-A12x25r use a custom hole spacing of 93x83mm.
The NH D12L and NF-A12x25r PWM 120mm fan are now available for €89.90/$89.90 and €29.90/$29.90, respectively.
KitGuru says: The PC case segment has received some fascinating designs in the last few years. However, despite their impressive looks, many of them were limited to custom loops and AIOs for high-performance cooling due to the limited clearance for CPU cooling towers. However, the NH-D12L might change that paradigm, offering what may be a compelling air cooling solution for cases that don't support the standard 160-155mm tall coolers.
