Wreckfest 2 officially announced

Over the weekend, THQ Nordic hosted their latest video games showcase, announcing a bunch of new and upcoming games. One of the most high-profile announcements came with the official unveiling of Wreckfest 2 – the sequel to 2018’s much-loved destruction derby title.

Announced during the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, Wreckfest 2 is set to launch on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at some point in the unknown future and will bring with it:

“A completely overhauled physics engine for even more realistic destruction, fully customizable cars that you can share with other players and revamped game modes including a brand-new split screen mode.”

2018’s Wreckfest received a high amount of praise for its fun-factor as well as the game’s unique soft-body damage model, which allowed for much more in-depth destruction than you'll find in a typical racer.

The original Wreckfest was released on the last-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well as the Nintendo Switch. The game even wound up finding its way onto the iOS and Android mobile platforms.

As such, it will be interesting to see what the team at Bugbear Entertainment have planned for this current-gen exclusive sequel. Hopefully the destruction is turned up to 11. We will have to wait and see.
