Xenoblade creator wants to take on ‘new challenges’ with next RPG

Monolith Soft has done fantastic work over the course of the Nintendo Switch generation. The Xenoblade Chronicles Trilogy are some of the best RPGs available on the Switch and now, Monolith is gearing up for its next major project.

Monolith Soft's 1st production team, the same team behind Xenoblade Chronicles, is now hiring for a new RPG in development. The project is being helmed by Tetsuya Takahashi, the creator of Xenoblade, so we would have to assume that this new mystery project will indeed be a new Xenoblade Chronicles game, likely for Nintendo's next-generation Switch console, which is due to launch in 2025.

Monolith Soft is looking for everything from designers to engineers and directors, and according to Takahashi, the team is looking to “take on more new challenges” compared to previous Xenoblade titles. While the Xenoblade Chronicles titles are all fantastic, they each follow a similar formula and share many mechanics, so it would be nice to see something new.

There was a pretty quick turnaround between Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3, so we would expect Monolith Soft's new game to land a couple of years into the lifecycle of Nintendo's next console.
