PlayStation Studios website update hints at possible acquisition

Sony has been on an acquisition spree as of late, adding Insomniac, Housemarque, Nixxes, Bluepoint and Bungie to its roster of PlayStation Studios – to name just a few. We know Sony plans to make more moves, but it seems the console manufacturer may have accidentally leaked their own announcement early.

Reset Era user Toumari discovered that Sony had recently updated the primary banner on the ‘PlayStation Studios’ website, making a number of interesting changes and additions. Sony added Demons Souls to the banner, while updating the slots assigned to MLB and Horizon to reflect their latest games’ cover art.

The most interesting change by far is the inclusion of Death Stranding to the Banner. Until now, every represented game could be attributed to a first-party PlayStation studio. In fact, titles such as Returnal were added to the banner only after the acquisition was announced.

The new inclusion of Death Stranding has led some to believe that Sony may be setting up to announce an acquisition of Kojima Productions. There have been rumours of a major acquisition brewing within Sony, and so this might just be it. Of course, this could all be a coincidence, however it is interesting that Death Stranding wasn’t added to the banner back in 2019 when it first released. We will have to wait and see if anything becomes of this.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the banner update? Do you think it means anything? Who do YOU think Sony will acquire next? Let us know down below.
