Survival MMO The Day Before delayed by almost a year

The Day Before is a much-anticipated open-world survival MMO “set in a deadly, post-pandemic America overrun by flesh-hungry infected and survivors killing each other for food, weapons, and cars”. The game was originally intended to release next month, though it has now been pushed all the way back to March 2023 – though not without good reason.

As reported by IGN, the team at FNTASTIC announced this disappointing delay, saying “Millions of people have added The Day Before to their wishlist, making The Day Before one of the most anticipated games in the world.”

They continued, saying: “Feeling and understanding the great responsibility that we face, with enormous gratitude in our hearts, we’re pleased to announce that The Day Before is switching to the new Unreal Engine 5 technology! The transition to a more advanced and adapted open worlds engine, will make the gameplay of The Day Before even more fantastic.”

The Day Before already looked good, but the move to UE5 will only futureproof the game further – an important element considering the game is intended as an MMO. Unfortunately, due to this, the team announced that “In this regard, we inform you that the new release date of the game will be March 1st, 2023.”

The Day Before is a much-anticipated title, but its long development and lack of any open beta has led to some fans worrying if the game is vapourware. While this latest delay only adds fuel to this fire, hopefully when The Day Before does release it is worth the long wait.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the delay? Is this cause for concern? What are your expectations for the game? Let us know down below.
