Bethesda delays Starfield and Redfall

Bethesda Game Studios' highly anticipated RPG, and first new IP in decades, Starfield, is no longer releasing in 2022. This afternoon, Bethesda announced that the game has now been pushed to 2023, and Redfall from Arkane Studios has also been pushed out of 2022.

Microsoft's Xbox Series X exclusive line-up is now looking very thin for this holiday season. Both Starfield and Redfall have now been pushed back to the “first half of 2023”.

“The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games”, the announcement reads. “We want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them”.

Starfield was originally set to be this year's big holiday season exclusive for Xbox, while Redfall was originally planned to release over this summer. Now that both titles have been delayed, we may not see as much of them at Microsoft's upcoming Xbox and Bethesda showcase as first thought.

KitGuru Says: Insiders have expressed a lot of confidence that Starfield will release this year, which makes this news more surprising. It seems Starfield does indeed need more time in the oven to squash bugs. Redfall on the other hand is a game that many of us expected to be delayed, as no official gameplay footage was shown following its initial CGI trailer last year.
