Back in 2018, shortly following the reveal for Diablo Immortal, we learned that Blizzard had multiple other mobile games in the works, including a couple based on Warcraft. At the time, we were told to expect a Pokémon Go style game, perhaps with Warcraft pet battles or something similar. Now, it seems that particular project got scrapped, and we'll be getting an entirely different Warcraft mobile title revealed this week.
On the 3rd of May, Blizzard has announced plans to announce a new mobile game set in the Warcraft universe. However, as confirmed by Jez Corden and Jason Schreier, this won't be the Pokémon Go style mobile game previously revealed through leaks – that title was cancelled earlier this year.

Through other tweets, Jez seems to hint knowing a bit more about the title, replying specifically to a question about this being a Clash of Clans style mobile RTS. Mobile strategy games have been blowing up for years now, with multiple major franchises adopting the three-lane, tower defence format for mobile spin-offs.
However, if the comparisons here are apt, this Warcraft title will be less like Clash Royale and more like Clans, which has more traditional elements that you'll recognise from RTS titles on PC, such as building your home base, setting up defences, upgrading your town centre to access better units, etc.
Barring any major leaks later today, Blizzard's new mobile Warcraft game will be announced tomorrow afternoon. The new game should be a little better received than Diablo Immortal too, as Blizzard has also announced new expansions for both World of Warcraft and WoW Classic.

KitGuru Says: I don't play many mobile games, but there have been several in recent years that have impressed me and kept me logging back in each day. As long as Blizzard doesn't go too crazy on microtransactions and delivers a genuinely fun game, then I could see this Warcraft title doing quite well.
