Battlefield 2042 has had a hard time maintaining a healthy player base, with recent statistics showing fewer than 1000 concurrent players on Steam. Possibly in a move to tackle the game’s dwindling popularity, Battlefield 2042 looks to be coming to Xbox Game Pass this week.
As reported by German site Xbox Dynasty, both Battlefield 2042 and FIFA 22 have shown up on a number of international Xbox stores as being available for free through Game Pass Ultimate. While the games cannot yet be downloaded, the Xbox-focused Twitter account ‘Idle Sloth’ suggested that the titles will be available from Thursday the 5th of May.
As with most EA titles, the addition of FIFA 22 and Battlefield 2049 comes as part of the service’s partnership with EA Play. As such, these new games will likely only be playable by those with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
Despite these caveats, the inclusion of Battlefield 2049 in any capacity should help with the game’s low player count. Of course, EA and DICE need to continue fixing and improving on the game’s many issues if they want the upcoming influx of players to remain in the long-run. We will have to wait and see whether they will manage to do so.
