Netflix gives first look at Sonic Prime TV show

Sonic the Hedgehog is on a bit of a hot streak at the moment. With the Blue Blur’s latest film breaking records at the box office and the potential of both Sonic Origins and Frontiers being good Sonic games, Sonic fans are eating well in 2022. Netflix has now given fans their first look at the upcoming Sonic Prime animated show – and it looks promising.

John Derderian, the Vice President of Animated Series at Netflix took to their blog to offer updates on a number of the service’s upcoming shows, including Sonic Prime. Attached were a number of photos giving us our first look at what the show will look like artistically.

Prior to today, all that had been shown was some concept art giving no real indication of what the show will look like. Now we can see that the team have opted for a faithful yet stylised version of Sonic,

With Sonic Boom-styled animated eyes and a vibrant and well-lit scene (alongside the texture quality) all makes for a show that so far feels high-budget. Sonic has had many shows in the past, from Sonic SATAM to Sonic Underground to Sonic X and Sonic Boom. Each has their own charms, but all have amassed their own niche audiences.

With the current status of Sonic thanks to the success of the films however, Sonic Prime is ‘primed’ and ready to be the best Sonic show yet when it releases some time this year.
