Hardcore EVE Online players have long used spreadsheets to calculate profits and battle damage. Up to now, they have had to fill these manually. However, thanks to an unexpected partnership between Microsoft and the game's developer, players will soon be able to export their game data directly into Excel spreadsheets.
The announcement came during EVE fanfest, running from May 6th to the 7th. As explained by the developer, the studio is still in an early development phase, but that didn't refrain fans from passionately celebrating the reveal.
This is not a joke: EVE x Microsoft Excel is happening. Soon you’ll be able to transport in game date directly into Excel. Spreadsheets in space made easy. Crowd is loving this. #evefanfest pic.twitter.com/723wnpFlkQ

More information about the tool should be coming later this year, but for now, you can take a brief look at how the tool works from this short clip.
As you would've expected from a game-dedicated event, this wasn't the only announcement. Besides Excel support, EVE Online is also getting new narrative arcs, a native client for Spanish speakers, visual enhancements, and a feature that helps new players pick a class.
KitGuru says: This is a partnership that makes plenty of sense considering the type of game EVE Online is. Still, it is something that I don’t think any of us expected to see officially. What do you think of Eve Online’s new Excel integration feature? Do you think more games should allow players to export their data this way?
