Intel to launch Raptor Lake desktop and first Sapphire Rapids chips in October

Late 2022 is shaping up to be quite busy for new PC hardware. Besides the next generation of Nvidia and AMD graphics cards, Intel is also expected to launch its Raptor Lake desktop processors and the first Sapphire Rapids HEDT CPUs.

According to ECSM_Official (via Wccftech), Intel delayed the release of the first Sapphire Rapids HEDT processors (Xeon W3400/2400) and the W790 platform to October.

The first Intel Raptor Lake chips (K and KF series) should also release in October alongside the Z790 platform. However, non-K processors and the H770 and B760 motherboards may only come out in Q1 2023, similarly to Alder Lake in 2022. As per the report, there won't be H710 motherboards, leaving the H610 as the entry-level for Raptor Lake chips.

This report also included some details about AMD's upcoming 600-series motherboards. Besides the B650 chipset, AMD is also releasing B650E, where the ‘E' means ‘Extreme'. Considering what AMD told us about the X670E, the B650E should also have PCIe 5.0 support for graphics and storage, whereas the non-E only has PCIe 5.0 for storage. Additionally, the report claims the B650 series will support CPU and memory overclocking, as previous x50 motherboards did.

AMD is expected to launch the X670/X670E motherboards alongside the first Zen 4 CPUs in Q3 2022.
