ASUS launches new ROG Strix Scar and ROG Flow gaming laptops

Just last week, ASUS launched its latest high-performance, creator and mainstream laptops, with a full range of new Zenbook and Vivobook models. Now, it is time to take a look at the gaming front, with Asus unveiling new ROG gaming laptops. 

Today during a virtual event, ASUS ROG announced two new high-end gaming laptops. Firstly, we have the new ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition, which aims to set a new standard for high-end cooling. Next up we have the impressive ROG Flow X16, a new 2-in-1 convertible gaming laptop.

ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition: 

The new ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition houses a custom vapor chamber, paired with ROG's exclusive Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal applied to both the CPU and GPU to improve heat transfer and overall cooling performance. Under the hood, you'll also find an Intel Core i9-12950HX processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU, as well as PCIe Gen 4 SSDs in a Raid 0 array and up to 64GB of 4800MHz DDR5 RAM. 

The SCAR 17 SE also comes with two display options, so buyers can choose between QHD/240Hz or FHD/360Hz, so you can take blazing fast refresh rates on the go with you. In both cases, you can expect 3ms response time. You can see the full spec sheet below:

ROG Flow X16: 

The new ROG Flow X16 is a 16-inch thin and light convertible laptop, powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU. The Flow X16 also features the flagship ROG Nebula HDR Display, sporting  QHD resolution and 165Hz refresh rate. The Mini LED panel also boasts excellent HDR output, with 1100 nits of peak brightness and coverage for 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. 

Under the hood, you will find a new ‘Frost Force' cooling system, featuring a new high-density heatsink design and three fans. You can see the full spec sheet below:

Aside from the new ROG gaming laptops, Asus has also launched new ROG accessories, including the new ROG Slash fashion line. which is a series of bags, backpacks and hats for the time being. The ROG team is also launching a game, SCAR Runner, a first-person parkour game and expansion to ROG Citadel XV. Those who play the game and own an ROG Strix Scar 17 SE laptop can find hidden clues on the laptop itself, painted in invisible ink on the chassis.
