Sony Bend unveils new logo and teases next game

Sony’s Bend Studio is known best for working on 2019’s open-world zombie game ‘Days Gone’. Despite support from fans, the studio confirmed that a sequel is not in development. That being said, the team have now offered the first official details on their upcoming new IP while also unveiling their brand new studio logo.

Taking to the PlayStation Blog, Kevin McAllister, the Community Manager at Bend Studio discussed the studio’s past, present and future, saying:

“With 29 years of experience in game development, Bend Studio has had a rich legacy in video games. From the iconic Syphon Filter series to Resistance: Retribution, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and Days Gone, we strive to provide our players with high-quality experiences that create a lasting impact. As we reflect on our past and look toward the future, we are thrilled to unveil the new Bend Studio logo to you all.”

McAllister then explained the messaging behind the new logo, including the team’s ambitions to “create a new identity that would be cutting-edge, abstract, and minimalist”. For our sakes however, by far the most interesting piece of information pertains to the studios next game, with McAllister teasing:

“We are currently working on a new IP that includes multiplayer and builds upon the open-world systems of Days Gone, but brings you a whole new world that we are extremely excited to craft for you. We cannot wait to reveal it to you when the time is right.”

Days Gone was a fun game with just a few glaring issues preventing it from being great. Hopefully Bend Studio have taken all of the lessons learned from Days Gone and are applying it to this future title. Though the inclusion of multiplayer elements does give pause, it is too early to prejudge and so we will just have to wait and see.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the new logo? Are you excited for Bend’s next game? What genre do you want it to be? Let us know down below.
