Shortly after the release of The Last of Us Part II, rumours about a PS5 remake of the first game began popping up. It has been a while since we last had an update on this, but according to reports this week, the remake will be coming ‘this holiday'.
According to Jeff Grubb on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, sources have been claiming that The Last of Us Remake is coming out this holiday season, which would be anywhere from October to December. The remake could help Sony bulk out its holiday season line-up, particularly if God of War: Ragnarök ends up being pushed to the first half of 2023.
The Last of Us Remake was first revealed in April last year, led by Naughty Dog once again with some assistance from PlayStation support studios.
The Last of Us has already appeared on two different console generations. The original version launched on PS3 back in 2013, before quickly receiving a remaster for PS4. The game was further enhanced once the PS4 Pro released, allowing for higher resolution gameplay. This new remake would look to take full advantage of the PS5's hardware.
If true, The Last of Us Remake isn't the only project in the franchise that Naughty Dog is currently working on. Currently, the studio is also working on The Last of Us Part II's multiplayer spin-off.

KitGuru Says: The Last of Us Part II looked incredible, so if we can get something that brings the first game up to that same standard, then it might be worth the upgrade and another playthrough.
